About Narasinha Mehta Dham

A resting place at the base of Girnar, named for the poet-saint who made Junagadh his home.

A place to rest before the climb

Narasinha Mehta Dham is a pilgrim guest house at Girnar Taleti in Junagadh, Gujarat. It gives visitors a clean, quiet and affordable place to sleep within reach of the mountain, the ropeway and the old temples at its foot.

Pilgrims often begin the Girnar climb in the early hours of the morning. Staying at the base means you can rest properly, start on time and return to a bed after a long day on the steps.

We keep things simple: tidy rooms, honest prices, and a team that understands what a pilgrim needs after a long journey.

Who was Narsinh Mehta?

Narsinh Mehta, also known as Narsinh Bhagat, was a 15th-century poet and devotee of Lord Krishna. He was born in Talaja, near Bhavnagar, and is honoured as the adikavi, the first poet of the Gujarati language.

After a spiritual awakening he settled in Junagadh and lived a life of devotion. He is credited with more than 750 padas, and his bhajan Vaishnav Jan To was a favourite of Mahatma Gandhi. Junagadh's Bhakta Kavi Narsinh Mehta University and the Narsinh Mehta Award for Gujarati literature carry his name today.

Naming the Dham for him is a way of keeping that spirit of humility and hospitality alive for every guest who arrives tired from the road.
